Deposit and Cancellation Policy

Kraken provides a marketplace for adventure sailing trips which means that your booking is made directly with the independent operator and is booked on their terms and conditions. For this reason the amount of deposit and cancellation policy varies depending on which operator you book with.

In each individual trip page in the ‘Your Trip’ section a summary of the deposit and cancellation policy is shown, e.g. ‘50% and Strict’.

Full details of each particular policy are set out below.

Deposit

The percentage listed is the amount of the overall trip price that needs to be paid as a deposit to confirm the booking.

For some trips you will see a cash amount. Payment of this amount confirms the booking.

Please note that bookings made less than 12 weeks from the trip start date require payment in full. See Payments for further details.

Cancellation

The following cancellation policies have the following meanings:

“Strict” means if you cancel you trip for any reason the whole amount paid to date (deposit and / or balance) is non-refundable unless you find a replacement customer.

“Medium” means if you cancel your trip more than 45 days before your trip start date all money that you have paid to date will be repayable. If you cancel your trip after 45 days from the trip start date the whole amount paid to date (deposit and / or balance) is non-refundable unless you find a replacement customer.

“Staggered” means, if you cancel your trip in these time periods you will be charged the following:

  • More than 90 days prior to departure – 25% of the total trip cost.
  • 60 to 90 days prior to departure – 50% of the total trip cost.
  • Less than 60 days from departure – 100% of trip cost.

“Staggered 2” means, if you cancel your trip in these time periods you will be charged the following:

  • More than 90 days prior to departure – loss of deposit.
  • 60 to 90 days prior to departure – 50% of the total trip cost of £500 (whichever is greater).
  • Less than 60 days from departure – 100% of trip cost.

“None” means you can cancel your trip at any time and will receive a full refund.

Operator cancellation

In the event of operator cancellation, the terms and conditions of the operator you have booked with apply.
