9 Nights

The Outer Hebrides have been the source of inspiration for artists, writers and composers for centuries. Perhaps most famously, German composer, Felix Mendelssohn, (who visited the region in 1829) wrote to his sister: “In order to make you understand how extraordinarily the Hebrides affected me, I send you the following, which came into my head there.”. It was this excerpt that was the core idea behind his famous 3rd Symphony.

Join us of this amazing trip through the Outer Hebrides and to St Kilda and see if the dynamic landscape can also inspire you to write music that will still be filling concert houses worldwide nearly 200 years later!

Getting back

Oban Train Station is a short walk away

Join: Oban Town Centre Pontoons, Scotland 5 August 4pm

Leave: Oban Town Centre Pontoons, Scotland 14 August midday

It is likely that we will head for the Isle of Muck for the second night, then on to Lochboisdale and Lochmaddy, before heading out via the Sound of Harris to St Kilda. This plan will be subject to a good forecast for the next 48 hours. Hopefully, we will be able to land and spend some time ashore before heading back to the Outer Hebrides. We have made this trip 10 days in duration as this will give us time to pick a good weather window for reaching St Kilda. Our return to Oban will be by the Outer Hebrides, the Isle of Skye, the Small Isles and Mull. The adventure will end in Oban at noon on August the 14th.
