The 50th edition of Rolex Fastnet Race, one of the most prestigious and challenging yacht races in the world, starts off the Royal Yacht Squadron in Cowes this Saturday. This extraordinary event, renowned in sailing circles and beyond, is more than just a race; it’s the “Everest” of sailing events.
Since its inception in 1925, the Fastnet Race has captivated millions worldwide with its dramatic combination of strategic navigation, endurance, and sheer courage. As competitors tackle the now 695-nautical-mile course (some 90 nautical miles longer than the classic course) from Cowes, around the iconic Fastnet Rock off Ireland’s southwestern coast, and finally to the finish line in Cherbourg, France.
This year, as the fleet of world-class sailors readies to embark on this epic journey, we are ready to track not only our own Kraken crews, but many other teams, and analyse each tack and gybe of the race from the comfort of Kraken HQ.
