Get your adrenaline pumping sailing a high-performance racing yacht in this offshore adventure from Ireland to England

 2 Nights: 29 - 31 August 2020

£395 per person

Experience the thrill of sailing a high-performance ‘Volvo Open 70’ racing yacht from picturesque Dublin in Ireland to Portsmouth, England this summer.

Over the course of the weekend, you will be given world-class coaching from a pro crew of four, with the opportunity to enhance your skills in every job onboard this iconic offshore racing machine. From navigation to helming, with practice in trimming, grinding and foredeck, you can get as stuck in as you like on this exhilarating trip.

Sailing down the east coast of Ireland from the beautiful Dun Laoghaire, leave the mountains and dramatic coastal scenery behind as you head to open water. For the next two days, you will enjoy an invigorating sail to the south of England, watching for wildlife as you navigate your way offshore into the Irish Sea and down to St George’s Channel. As you reach the south coast of England, take time to relax and enjoy the stunning scenery as you round Land’s End and the southernmost point of the country; Lizard Point. Sailing along the rugged coastline of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset, you will reach the busy waters of the Solent on the last day, arriving at the port town of Portsmouth.

Push your comfort zone for a truly genuine experience of life as an elite ocean racer, with basic race yacht accommodation and freeze-dried food: the trade-offs for an invigorating ride across the 400nm from the East coast of Ireland. Whether you are a novice sailor or more experienced, this trip promises to get your adrenaline pumping, as you fully immerse yourself in the world of offshore, improving your racing skills and working as a team with your new crewmates.

Start the adventure and join the yacht in Dun Laoghaire to meet your fellow crew members. Following a safety briefing, boat tour and some basic training, you will set sail for open water; heading down the breath-taking East coast of Ireland. Throughout the next three days, you will leave the dramatic coast of Ireland behind as you sail the Irish Sea and down to St George’s Channel. Experience all aspects of life offshore, as your skipper and crew coach you through the various on board roles, from navigation and pit, to the thrilling world of bow. Relax and enjoy a great sail while taking in the beautiful scenery when rounding Land’s End and Lizard Point, continuing past the southernmost point of England and along the South coast and the rugged coastline of Cornwall, Devon and Dorset. Reaching the busy waters of the Solent on the last day, you will navigate your way to the port town of Portsmouth. Leave the boat here at Gunwharf Quays and head for a drink with your crew mates before heading home.
