Day 1 – Meeting on the dock in Svolvær
Meet at the harbour at 6pm to familiarise yourself with the boat and meet the crew. You will be given a safety brief before setting sail towards a natural harbor to spend the night at anchor, ready for skiing the next morning.
Day 2 – Austnesfjorden
After an early breakfast you will go ashore ready for your first day of skiing. With many opportunities in Austnesfjorden, such as the demanding summits of Higravtindan and Geitgaljertind, there is no need to sail far today.
Day 3 – Austnesfjorden
Staying in the stunning surroundings of the Austnesfjord, you will find both easy and more challenging routes on this varied terrain. If the weather gods are on your side, you may be able to ascend Geitgaljen, one of the most spectacular summits in Lofoten. If snow conditions are favourable, this hill offers a magical descent all the way to shore. In the evening you relax for a while before sailing out the fjord towards Trollfjorden were you will spend the evening at anchor.
Day 4 – Majestic and “trollish” Trollheimen
Start in the magnificent Trollfjorden, a bay available to sailors and boaters only. This 2km fjord is surrounded by steep sided mountains and if you start early before the sun starts warming up the hills, you will reach for peaks of 1000 meters. Once back in the boat, a gourmet meal will be prepared, as you relax and look out for the northern lights.
Day 5 – Skiing in the mountainsides of Raftsundet
With an early start, you will ski in Raftsundet. This 25km strait has many areas with fantastic opportunities for skiing. Enjoy the breathtaking arctic landscape with its beautiful mountain vistas as you ski under the incredible skies of Lofoten. You will then sail back to the town to dock. The bus and speed ferry both depart by the harbour, and the distance to the airport is not far, but do allow time when booking your return transport.
The program
The program may change according to weather and conditions, but the itinerary gives an indication of how the days will be spent. Every day starts with a good breakfast and a packed lunch will be made before going ashore. Some days dinner will be eaten straight after skiing while other days you will eat a little when you return to the boat, and then sail on before eating a late dinner. According to forecast and preference of you and your crew, time can be spent fishing, sailing and exploring.
