Ever wondered what it would be like to paddleboard in the arctic? Sailing and paddleboard make perfect adventure partners for this expedition.

Using our expedition yacht as our mobile base camp and paddleboards to explore the hidden corners of the coastline we have the perfect recipe for an unforgettable adventure.

We will be sailing through the fjord lands of Norway, heading south as autumn begins to spread its beautiful colours and bounty of berries. The focus of this expeditions will be on using sailing and paddleboarding to exploring this wonderful coastline. The majority of the time we will be sailing or paddleboarding during the day, returning to the comforts of our yacht each night. We may also choose to make some overnight sailing passages during the expedition, usually in order to get somewhere that we want to spend more time exploring and paddling in!

Extras

Experience level: There is no sailing experience required to join this expedition, we can show you all the ropes as we go. You don’t have to be a hotshot paddle boarder either, however, it is useful if you have been on a paddleboard before and have a moderate degree of fitness. Our aim is to explore the secluded nooks and crannies of the coastline rather than take on extended crossings. Boards and paddles will be provided but you should bring your own wetsuit/drysuit and PFD if you have one.

ITINERARY

Day 1: Joining the expedition

You will join our expedition yacht in Bodø. A vibrant city with regular flights in arctic Norway. We will meet you onboard and give you a warm welcome, and most likely a cup of tea. You will then have the opportunity to settle in and be shown around the boat as well as to explore the town and get your first taste of life above the arctic circle. We will introduce you to everything that you need to know about the yacht, life onboard and the research projects that we will be undertaking. Dinner will be provided onboard on the first evening, a great opportunity to get to know your fellow crewmates.

Day 2: Setting sail

Following initial safety briefings we will be heading out of port and setting sail for the first time. The sheltered and spectacular fjords around Bodø provide the perfect opportunity to get used to the boat and maybe have a first paddle. There will be plenty of opportunity to immerse yourself in the stunning scenery of the arctic landscape.

Day 3-6: Fjord Norway

The main part of the expedition will see us working our way south through the sheltered but intricate inside passages. Sailing up fjords and past islands will have a front-row view of the scenery and wildlife. We will be aiming for some stunning anchorages where the yacht can wait patiently for us while we get even closer to nature on our paddleboards. There will also be time to simply relax and enjoying the relaxed pace of life far from the hectic modern world.

Day 7: Arrival in Brønnøysund

We will spend our final day enjoying the scenery of Northern Norway before heading into port in Brønnøysund. We will moor up for the night in Bronøysund and enjoy our final evening onboard with a nice dinner and time to swap stories, highlights and pictures from the expedition.

Day 8: Leaving the boat

Breakfast will be provided on board with the final chance to, swop stories, photos and contact details before either heading home or arranging your own extra days experiencing Brønnøysund .

Please note that the itinerary provided above is provided to illustrate the general areas we will visit on the expedition. The exact itinerary that we follow will be chosen each day by your skipper in order to make the best use of the weather conditions. Since we operate with just a small number of guests onboard, we can tailor the areas that we explore based on your interests. Where and when we are able to paddleboard will be dependent on the conditions. We will be looking for some safe sheltered areas to explore.
