14 nights: Various dates July - October 2021
€6,100 / £5,480 per person*
Embark on a trip spanning from Ammassalik to Nansen, where mountains rise almost vertically from the sea and active glaciers expel enormous quantities of ice. Depending on weather and sea conditions, each voyage of this adventure will offer something new and different.
The itinerary may include navigating Nansen Fjord, hiking to the flower-filled Sødalen Valley, searching for gold and platinum in the creeks and rivers of the Skærgård intrusion, visiting the Inuit ruins of Mikis Fjord, and setting up an inland base camp in Kangerdlussuaq Fjord to explore Greenland’s wildest coastal landscape, before travelling south to Depot Sound and beyond.
This one-of-a-kind trip offers ample opportunities for hiking, climbing, and kayaking in areas very rarely seen by the outside world. This outing is suitable for people of all ages and varying interests.
Ammassalik is the most populated area on the east coat of Green land. The town of 2,000 inhabitants is perched on the foothills of the local mountain, The Sjoman (The Sea Man), above the shores of the King Oscar’s fjord.
During this trip, you will have the opportunity for fantastic sailing, floating past icebergs and shining glaciers.
Along the way, we may stop off at Sødalen Valley, a beautiful area with blooming flowers, perfect for stretching our legs. Kangerdlussuaq Fjord will also be a prime destination for adventure, with towering mountains surrounding the edge, providing a perfect playground for those keen on hiking, and superb views await at the top.
Whether you are interested in climbing untouched peaks, hiking to tranquil mountain lakes, or simply taking in nature’s majestic beauty from onboard, your activity level is up to you.
Some of the activities included are guided hikes and land excursions, glacier hikes with opportunities to swim in the glacial lakes and visits to the local Inuit villages. There will also be time for sea kayaking or stand-up paddleboarding amongst the icebergs and fjords.
