Day 1: Trip start in Akureyri
Meet at 12pm on the quay in Akureyri where you can familiarise yourself with the boat and meet your crew members. After a safety briefing and running through routines and procedures on board, you will set sail and begin your adventure.
Day 2-4: Northeast coast of Iceland
From Akureyri you will sail south along the icelandic coast, with time to stop and explore some of the more interesting places and villages. As you sail, expect to see whales along the way, you will really get to know these giants of the sea.
Day 4-6: Ocean crossing from Iceland to the Faroe Islands
The crossing to Faroe islands is 240-250 nautical miles and will take you 2-3 days depending on the weather. With heavy ocean currents around the Faroe Islands, the waves and their direction will help us determine where we head into.
7-8: Island hopping and time on land on the Faroe Islands
The stunning capital of Torshavn, with its unusual wooden turf-roofed houses, will be on the list of places to visit while on the Faroe islands. The amount of time spent on land will depend on the weather forecast, but you will be sure to visit more than one picturesque place on these islands.
Day 9-11: Ocean crossing to Shetland and time ashore on Shetland
The crossing to Shetland is 150nm and will take about a day. When you reach the fjords of Shetland you will have the chance to discuss what you do and how to spend your time adventuring. A great place to stop will be the capital of Lerwick, Shetland’s only town.
Day 11-13: Sailing across the North Sea towards Stadtlandet and Ålesund
The last voyage across the North Sea is 180nm and will take you to Bergen, and then on to Stadt and Ålesund. Wind and weather conditions will determine where you first hit land in Norway, but following potential stops along the coast, you will reach the end of your trip in Ålesund. The last night will be spent with your crew, with dinner, drinks and stories, just like the Vikings!
