Dates: 24 June to 01 July 2023
From £1,695 per person
During this adventure, you'll be guided by a local crew and explore all of the food and wine this region has to offer, including Marzamemi recipes, street food in Catania, and the brioches with granita in Taormina
Check-in Mazara del vallo marina
Welcoming, briefing, and sailing to Vulcano. This island was formed by the merging of several volcanos; their activity has not completely ceased and frequently creates jets of steam in different places on the island. Vulcano is also known for its sulfurous muds with therapeutic properties. Possibly, the night will be spent at anchor.
Sail and excursion to Lipari, which is the largest of the Aeolian Islands, has several towns. The island is mountainous and has a jagged coastline: there are many steep cliffs but also some flat beaches. The most peculiar one is Spiaggia Bianca (White Beach), whose name is due to the pumice stone of which it is made.
Sail to Panarea and Stromboli and take a scenic tour of the islands. The first is the smallest of the Aeolian islands and is known for its hydrothermal vent. Stromboli has one of the most active volcanos in Europe; the black beaches are its distinctive trait. Return to Salina: nice sail with (usual) thermal wind for about 22 nautical miles and mooring at the marina.
Tour of Salina: most of its territory belongs to a Nature Reserve, which was created to safeguard the island and has different hiking trails. Salina has several beaches, the only sandy one is Rinella. Food and wine tasting at a local wine estate. Sail to Filicudi.
Excursion to Filicudi. Here, the sea is crystal clear and perfect for snorkelling. It will be a pleasure to admire the beautiful seabed, characterized by its cliffs. Later, visit Alicudi depending on the weather conditions. Navigation to Cefalù – probably by night – for about 35 nautical miles.
Excursion to the gorgeous Cefalù. Take a walk along the promenade and through the old town, enjoying the many fascinating overlooks such as Porta Pescara and the high promontory with the old city walls. Moor overnight at the marina.
Sail towards Palermo for about 30 nautical miles across the Northern coast of Sicily. Excursion with a tour guide to the endless wonders of the city: the Cathedral, Piazza Pretoria (better known as “Square of Shame”), Massimo Theatre, and much more. In Palermo, we can’t miss a Street Food experience and taste the most typical foods of Sicily.
After a casual breakfast, it’s time to say goodbye to the crew.
