Join our coastal journey from Auckland to the enchanting Bay of Islands, spanning 140 nautical miles and offering a multitude of enticing stopovers.
Kawau Island, with its historic Mansion House, offers a glimpse into colonial New Zealand. Heading north, Mahurangi Harbour boasts serene waters and a rich maritime heritage, ideal for exploration. Farther along the coast, Tutukaka Harbour is a diver's paradise, home to the underwater wonders of the Poor Knights Islands Marine Reserve.
To the east is Whangamumu Harbour, a former whaling station, it now offers tranquil anchorage and a historic hiking trail that blends history and nature. Farther east, Urupukapuka Bay's idyllic setting beckons travellers with snorkelling, scenic walks, and panoramic views.
Moving on, Motuarohia Island, also known as Roberton Island, is a haven for snorkelers and nature enthusiasts, featuring the picturesque Twin Lagoon.
Enjoy barbeques and roast dinners as you relax and take in the sunset each night. Sail between Cape Brett and the famous Hole in the Rock, before navigating through the narrow Albert Channel into the Bay of Islands.
You can fly directly into Auckland on or before the 26th of October 2023 or early on the 27th. Our crew will officially assemble at 10:00 on the 27th of October at The Viaduct Harbour in Auckland and we will aim to depart as soon as we complete the yacht familiarisation and safety training process and head for our first of our island anchorages. You are welcome to stay onboard on the night of the 26th, but if you plan to arrive prior to the 26th of October, you will need to arrange accommodation ashore.
Our plan is to sail into the Bay of Islands Marina in Opua by 14:00 on the 30th of October and you can plan to depart out of KeriKeri Airport (a 30-minute car ride) later the same day.
Your crew package includes; all meals onboard, crew meals in Auckland and Opua, accommodation onboard, marina fees, the use of a PFD (personal floatation device), PLB (personal locator beacon), and a safety tether. Your bedding, a pillow, and a towel are also included along with sun cream.
Your crew package excludes; accommodation ashore, flights and transport to and from departure and arrival ports, alcohol, toiletries, clothing, and wet weather gear.
It’s always recommended that you book flights with date flexibility in case of unforeseen changes due to weather or schedules. Accommodation options if you want to stay ashore on either side of the trip: Airbnb, Booking.com, Wotif and Vrbo (HomeAway).
