When you embark on the Clipper in Livorno, it is midsummer in Italy. Located on the Tuscan coast, Livorno is the largest and most significant city. If you want to gain a true sense of the city, explore the narrow canals of the Venice Quarter instead of the busy harbour. This is one of the most atmospheric parts of the city in summertime. The Old Fort, the New Fort, and the Natural History Museum are also worth seeing if you have extra time in the run-up to your trip. And imagine watching the sunset from Terrazza Mascagni with panoramic views of the sea.
Your sailing adventure begins on Tuesday, July 11 in the afternoon with a welcome aboard, and a tasty dinner in our long room and a comfortable cabin for your first night. Departure is scheduled for the following morning.
A special experience will certainly be the passage of the Strait of Gibraltar. This strait connects the Mediterranean Sea and the Atlantic Ocean and separates Spain in Europe and Morocco in Africa. The passage is narrow, the shipping traffic is busy, the weather is sometimes rough and the chance of spotting a whale is present
Imagine standing on the lookout surrounded by nothing but the sea. The waves, the sea being rough now and then, maybe some other ships and sometimes even dolphins playfully dancing just ahead of the bow, and the experience of feeling so insignificant in the overwhelming nature.
Enjoy the peace and quietness around you, be completely disconnected from your hectic lives at home, find the time to relax on the deck or in the long room with a book from our well-stocked library, and have interesting conversations with the crew and the other guests.

A special experience will certainly be the passage of the Strait of Gibraltar. The Strait of Gibraltar has a width of 14 to 44 km, a length of 60 km, and a maximum depth of 900 meters. The narrow passage is named after the rock on the southeastern point of land, Gibraltar.
The ship’s crew stands watch in three shifts. These shifts are called the Red Watch (from 12- 4 AM and PM), the White Watch (from 4-8 AM and PM), and the Blue Watch (from 8-12 AM and PM).
We welcome you to join one of these watches. This way you can fully experience the wonders of sailing a square-rigged tall ship. Setting or furling the sails, keeping a lookout, setting the course, or standing watch: you can participate in all of it. You might enjoy assisting the crew with onboard maintenance. There are plenty of options.
In the late afternoon of Sunday, July 23, will arrive in La Coruña. The city is located on a spit of land in the middle of two bays on the Atlantic Ocean and is part of the scenic Rias Altas region. You’ll find a long stretch of beach, fishing villages, and Europe’s highest cliffs along this coast.
