Hypr

Specifications

Overall 10% faster than standard Volvo 70’s due to upgrades that have been added. The key upgrades are:

  • Keel extension by 0.4m and a keel bulb weight reduction from 5 tonnes to 4 tonnes
  • 2016 complete refit
  • Hydraulic-actuated Trim Tab added to keel fin

History

Previous name whilst competing in the Volvo Ocean Race was ‘Warrior’

  • 2018 Bermuda Race Line Honors 2nd (1st VO70 to finish)
  • 2018 Antigua-Bermuda Race Line Honors 1st *New Record 2018 Antigua Sailing Week 1st in Class
  • 2018 Caribbean 600 3rd Overall IRC, Line Honors 2nd
  • 2nd Place Volvo Ocean Race 2011-2012
  • Antigua-Bermuda Race Line Honors 1st

The courses are perfect for Volvo 70, giving us enough room to throttle up and unleash some of their speed potentials but still small enough to provide the fun challenge of tactical buoy racing. After 2 days of intense training, you’ll be thrown into 5 days of some of the best racing on the Caribbean circuit.

Antigua Sailing Week includes its share of great parties and there is normally an international music act scheduled towards the end of the week. The ASW organisers and race officers are professional and experienced and put on a great event.

And of course, for us dreamers, there is the experience of walking the docks in English Harbour in the evening looking at the multi-million dollar yachts…
