Get your adrenaline pumping as you sail a high-performance racing yacht as you blast across the Bay of Biscay
7 nights: 17 - 24 September 2022
£1400 per person
This trip is for everyone, whether you are a novice or experienced sailor. Bagging at least 650 nautical miles as we sail Volvo Open 70 "Telefonica Black" from Portsmouth to Vigo and cross the infamous Bay of Biscay - a true right of passage for any sailor.
During this adventure, take in the beautiful English shorelines, and embrace the sunshine as you head to warmer waters. Keep your eye out for dolphins and marine wildlife, as you power towards your destination, windswept, salty, but happy, having accomplished an amazing journey onboard one of the most extreme racing yachts. Upon your arrival in Vigo, relax on their beautiful sandy beaches, and have a well-deserved meal, experiencing the local cuisine.
Over 5 days, you will have the opportunity to helm, trim, practice evolutions, passage plan, weather route and if you are a budding yacht master you can have the opportunity to skipper a 60-mile passage under the watchful eye of a Yachtmaster instructor.
Don’t think this will be a luxury ride! Such a high-performance racing yacht does not come with many creature comforts. Cramped quarters, freeze-dried food and basic accommodation are the trade-off for a fast boat, many miles, stunning scenery and the most exhilarating ride. We do it just as the elite ocean racers do so you truly get a genuine experience.
The exact itinerary and stop-overs will be dictated by the weather forecast. There are several options en route to stop over, giving time to see both the English and Northern French coasts in all their glory.
Your time onboard will involve not only sailing, but authentic racing snack lunches and freeze-dry lunches, meeting and working with lovely people, a huge amount of teamwork, and sitting down at the end of the day with a beer to prepare for the journey the following day.
You’ll arrive in Vigo, Spain on 24th September 2022. You are welcome to stay on board for the night of the 24th September for arranged onward travel the following day.
