Get your adrenaline pumping as you sail your way from Malta to Gibraltar

8 nights: 28 Oct- 06 Nov 2021

£1250 per person

Experience the thrill of sailing on a high-performance Volvo Open 70 while honing your skills and building your miles. This trip is for everyone, whether you are a novice or experienced sailor. Bagging at least 700 nautical miles as we sail Volvo Open 70 "Telefonica Black" from Cagliari, Sardinia to Gibraltar.

Power your way across the gorgeous Mediterranean Sea as you head towards Gibraltar. Passing by the Spanish islands and coastline as you power towards your destination, windswept, salty, but happy, having accomplished an amazing journey onboard one of the most extreme racing yachts.

Over 9 days, you will have the opportunity to helm, trim, practice evolutions, passage plan, weather route and if you are a budding yacht master you can have the opportunity to skipper a thrilling passage under the watchful eye of a Yachtmaster instructor.

Don’t think this will be a luxury ride! Such a high-performance racing yacht does not come with many creature comforts. Cramped quarters, freeze-dried food and basic accommodation are the trade-off for a fast boat, many miles, stunning scenery and the most exhilarating ride. We do it just as the elite ocean racers do so you truly get a genuine experience.

Upon your arrival in Gibraltar, you'll be greeted by the famous towering rock, rising 426m into the air. After an epic journey, why not treat yourself to a comforting and homely snack of fish and chips, there's a vast array of shops to choose from!

Join the Volvo 70, yacht Telefonica Black in Malta in the evening of the 27th of October to get settled, meet the crew, before heading out the next morning for the beginning of the adventure. The program doesn’t start until 0900 on the 28th of October so welcome to join the boat a little later then too.

The exact itinerary and stop-overs will be dictated by the weather forecast. There are several options en route to stop over, showcasing the best local life of Spain along the way. There is a very strong chance we will stop in Cagliari, or somewhere else but we are in the hands of the wind. We won’t beat into the wind just to make a stop, that’s why we leave it quite loose. If the winds and time allow we will head up the coast of Sicily past Mt Etna and through the straights of Messina. We will then be greeted by the magnificent Stromboli before arriving in Cagliari for a night. Other possible stops could include Valencia and Cartagena.

Your time onboard will involve not only sailing, but authentic racing snack lunches and freeze-dry lunches, meeting and working with lovely people, a huge amount of teamwork, and sitting down at the end of the day with a beer to prepare for the journey the following day.

You’ll arrive in Gibraltar where you’re welcome to stay on board for the night for your onward travel the following day.
