Beneteau First 40 The 10th edition of the RORC Transatlantic Race will start on Sunday 7th January 2024 Start from Lanzarote and finish at St George, Grenada.

Itinerary

The start of the RORC Transatlantic race is in Lanzarote. The race fleet will then head west; to finish on the St George Caribbean Island of Grenada.

  • 4 days of boat prep
  • 2 days of sea training
  • All food, fuel, fluids, and gas whilst at sea.
  • 6 nights bunk onboard pre-race
  • 2 nights bunk onboard in Grenada.

Start from Lanzarote and finish at St George, Grenada.

Join your fellow team from Tuesday 2nd January in Lanzarote and collaborate with fellow crews to discuss routing and all aspects of the race.

Our competitive crossing will suit any level of sailor. This will be Olympia’s Tigress’s 5th Transatlantic Race but her first one with RORC although a seasoned offshore RORCer.

Clothes

Please use a sea bag or a foldable bag. Suitcases are too bulky on board and difficult to stow away. 

  • Boat shoes (closed and anti-slip – please make sure that the sole does not rub off)
  • Sailing boots
  • Sailing pants
  • Oilskin (waterproof jacket and trousers)
  • Fleece jacket or pullover (at sea, it also gets cold at night in summer)
  • Thermal underwear
  • Hat and cap
  • Scarf (optional)
  • Sunglasses

  • Clothes for on land

Hygiene/Health

  • Sunscreen (no suntan oil!)
  • After-sun lotion
  • Lip balm (with and without UV-protection)

  • Remedies against seasickness 
  • Sleeping bag
  • Earplugs/sleeping mask (optional – it is quite loud under deck)

  • Headlamp (waterproof and red light function, spare batteries)
