Power your way past the Channel Islands as you race from Cowes to St Malo
5 Nights: 07 - 12 July 2021
£750 per person
Another classic RORC race – and one of the oldest events on the calendar – takes you from Cowes to St Malo, France. The race will provide us with a varied and interesting course, as once we’ve have headed west out of the Solent, our first natural race markers are the amazing Channel Islands, which often prove challenging to negotiate as we blast towards the Breton Coast.
We will have a thrilling night sail and have to be on our toes as there will be strong competition. We will be achieving approximately 175nM. After crossing the finish line, we will end the race in the stunning walled town of St Malo, which after a hard race is a welcome treat!
St Malo is a stunning fishing market town, famous for its oyster restaurants and fine dining. Fortunately, we will have ample time after the race to wander the cobbled streets and soak up the atmosphere before settling down to a cold bottle of something nice.
We will then take a gentle cruise back to the Solent, giving us time to reflect on the amazing adventure we’ve all just been on!
Start: Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, 07 July 2021
Training: 08 July 2021
Race: 09 July 2021
Finish: Gunwharf Quays, Portsmouth, 12 July 2021, am
You’ll join the boat on Wednesday evening, have the chance to settle in and meet the rest of the crew. We will then spend Thursday training and familiarising ourselves with the boat before getting an early night in readiness for the race the next day.
As the race starts Friday afternoon we’ll all meet in Portsmouth to prep the yacht and head out towards the start line. This race will take us across the English Channel to our destination in St Malo. Here we will spend the rest of Saturday recovering from a fast and energetic race. Then we shall head back home on to Gunwharf Quays for the Monday.
