This yacht has been owned by the same family since it was built in 1987 and each year, modified to ensure it stays in a winning and optimised condition. has raced across the Atlantic no less than 10 times. In each, case the team won their division, and on five occasions, winning overall. As part of a highly competitive crew, you’ll be fully involved in both the preparation and racing of the yacht.

4th – 7th Jan 2022 – Crew arrive in Lanzarote. Safety brief, boat orientation and alongside training. On water sail training.

8th Jan 2022 – Race start

The Race

The prestigious RORC Transatlantic Race starts in Lanzarote and finishes in Grenada. It attracts the top race yachts from around the world to race after a busy European season over the Atlantic to kick start the competitive Caribbean season.

The race takes you across 2,700 miles of the Atlantic Ocean. As the race starts in January it takes advantage of the most consistent trade winds giving competitors optimum and exciting downwind sailing.

For those sailors wanting to hop up to Antigua after finishing in Grenada, you’re more than welcome to join us as we sail up through the islands.

The Yacht

Scarlet Oyster is the most successful Oyster race yacht ever built. The boat came first in class and second overall in 2022. Most notably, she has won her class in the Fastnet, Caribbean 600, ARC Transatlantic and multiple RORC qualifiers; as well as achieving podium positions at Antigua Sailing Week and the St Maarten Heineken Regatta. Scarlet Oyster has also won “Best Charter Boat” for her results in the Fastnet, Antigua Sailing Week, St Maarten Heineken Regatta as well as RORC overall season points in several seasons.
