Laura
“I discovered sailing in my twenties and ventured off to the Mediterranean to be a Flotilla Hostess, having completed my RYA Competent Crew and STCW95. After two seasons in Croatia and Turkey, I gained my RYA Day Skipper and Power Boat Level 2 and moved on to Superyachts for a few seasons. Sailing extensively throughout the Med, over to the BVI, before heading to the Panama Canal and through to the Pacific. I’m now land based but still enjoy getting out on the water and have spent a lot of time off-shore racing, paddle boarding and rowing.”

“As a young child, I was first introduced to sailing on a holiday with my family – needless to say, I was instantly hooked. After the holiday, we joined our local sailing club and sailed regularly. It was at West Lancs that the bug really bit and over the following ten years, I progressed from club racing to local open circuits, to regional then national squad. By the time I was a teenager, my Dad had gotten his RYA Yacht Cruising Instructor ticket so he started to teach me the art of yacht sailing. By 17, I was chartering yachts with my friends and sailing on the South coast and I have never looked back.”

“I started sailing with my Dad when I was about five or six years old. We both learned at the same time – we capsized, things broke and we sure had a lot of fun! The sailing bug bit quite early, and I went on to instruct, do transatlantics, explore the arctic, race offshore and do dinghy regattas. During all of this, I realised how lucky I was to be exposed to all of these great experiences – this was where Kraken started. There is a suitable sailing adventure for everyone and we want to inspire people to become nautical adventurers.”

“At age eleven, I sailed in an Optimist at the local sailing club in Southport. It was at this point that I realised my love for sailing. I went on to crew for my father in an enterprise, raced in clubs, and participated in open meetings and national championships. At university, I did team racing in Fireflys across the UK, and later became the Commodore of the university sailing club. Later on, I began to explore coastal and offshore racing in North Wales and on the Solent. I love making the connection between adventurers and great sailing adventures.”
