Bay of Cienfuegos

If exploring the city doesn’t interest you, the bay also boasts lovely coves and beaches with the most transparent waters, natural pools and lush vegetation. Cayo Largo del Sur

Snorkel and dive amongst the black coral reef, or rent a Jeep and explore the uninhabited islet’s few roads and coral sand beaches. A highlight of Cayo Largo is the Sea Turtle Hatchery which offers an unforgettable experience, allowing people to learn about animal conservation and tourism. Next, visit the small museum in the main village and explore the island’s history, ending your day by indulging in a Cuban beach grill, locally known as ranchóns.

Named the “Isle of Youth”, the “Island of Pirates”, or the “Island of Treasure”, Isla de la Juventud is full of beauty to explore. Sixty miles off the Cuban mainland, the comma-shaped island is home to the Caribbean’s rarest and protected animals and, centuries ago, served as a pirate’s haven. Wander amongst the palm and pine trees, citrus groves, and beautiful marble hills. Punta Francés, situated on the island’s southwest tip, is the perfect place to dive. For a historical experience, visit the former panoptic prison on the island that housed Fidel Castro, now a museum.
