Southern Norway – Stavanger

Southern Norway – Stavanger
Throughout this sailing region, there are many sheltered places to anchor, either in marinas where you can get shore power and grocery shopping or in small, natural coves or specially constructed piers on the islands.
Mountain hikes are an excellent way to combine sailing and nature. In the fjords, you can climb a 900-meter-high mountain or on an island, you can climb a 200-meter-high peak for a more relaxing experience.

Træna
For the rest of the year, discover Stone Age history, mystical caves and white beaches, and the freshest seafood in ancient fishing villages. A trip to the caves on Sanna is a must. Sail north to Myken to visit the world’s first Arctic whiskey distillery or east to the massive Svartisen glacier, the only remaining glacier on the Norwegian mainland.
Lofoten
Ski off a mountain peak with a view of the ocean, play on the beach, or sink into a hot tub surrounded by snow before cooling off in the fjord and back into the tub!

Lofoten
Lofoten is Arctic Norway’s playground – ski, surf, hike, indulge in fine cuisine or explore traditional and contemporary art, amid dramatic landscapes of jagged mountain peaks dropping straight into the sea. Seen from out at sea, the mountains are a 100km long, 1000m high wall known as ‘the wall of Lofoton’, but sail closer to find an archipelago of coves and valleys, fishing villages and farmlands, and even a football stadium and a golf course.

Lyngenfjord
In summer, explore by mountain bike or island-hop to see reindeer grazing along the fjord and discover the handicraft and traditional music of the 2000-year-old Sami culture. Sail to Havnnes, Norway’s northernmost still-operating trading post with a village that is like an open museum.
